Suggestions for Schizophrenia
The person affected with schizophrenia often does not understand that they are suffering from the condition. Family and friends are the ones responsible to seek professional treatment for schizophrenics. The early diagnosis and treatment of those suffering from the disorder are likely to have better outcomes. Once the patient is under treatment, families and friends should understand the importance of consistently taking the medications, as long as such medication is necessary. Premature discontinuation of the patient’s medication will defeat the purpose of treating the condition and the chronic symptoms of the condition return. The success of treatment for schizophrenia actually relies on the support provided by the family among schizophrenics. Thus family therapy is always included in the psychotherapeutic treatment approach in schizophrenia.
