Obsessive-compulsive disorder is a challenging and debilitating condition. However, there are some things that can be done in order to manage your obsessive-compulsive disorder.

  • Keep yourself informed about obsessive-compulsive disorder. Read some literature about the disorder. Keeping yourself informed about OCD will help you manage your disorder better.
  • Establish connections with your family and friends. Feeling alone and isolated can only worsen obsessive-compulsive behavior. Keeping yourself connected with families and friends will give you a sense of support. Letting them work with you in managing your condition can give motivation and encouragement.
  • Find an OCD Support Group. Support group’s help you realize that there are people who are with you in your struggles. Support groups provide a venue in sharing your experience or learning from others who have a similar condition like you.
  • Learn relaxation techniques. Practicing the art of meditation, yoga, deep breathing, and other stress relief strategies can lessen the anxiety associated with obsessive-compulsive disorder 14.
