UNIQUE REMUDA RANCH TREATMENT PROGRAM FOR WOMEN WITH ANXIETY DISORDER

  • The inpatient treatment facility of the Remuda Ranch Programs for Eating and Anxiety Disorders launched a new treatment program for women who are 18 years of age and older with anxiety disorders. The program will provide treatment for the following conditions: Panic Disorder, Obsessive Compulsive Disorder, Anxiety Disorder NOS, specific phobia, Social Anxiety Disorder, Generalized Anxiety Disorder, Body Dysmorphic Disorder, and trichotillomania. 8 The treatment program is high specialized and scientifically valid in treating women suffering from debilitating anxiety disorders effectively. They are to be treated on an in-patient basis for 60 days where they will learn to end their negative behaviors, address critical issues under the cognitive behavioral framework and biblical Christianity. Treatment programs include exposure to response prevention therapy, skill groups, didactic presentations, equine and canine therapy, art therapy, movement and relaxation therapy, challenge course and recreation groups, spiritual growth groups and daily chapels that provide non-denominational Biblical teachings.

COGNITIVE BEHAVIORAL VERSUS ACTIVE CONTROL TREATMENT IN CHILDREN AND ADOLESCENTS WITH ANXIETY DISORDER

Research was conducted by Hudson JL et al. of the Center of Emotional Health of the Department of Psychology, Macquarie University with the objective of examining whether a specific cognitive behavioral treatment package is more efficient than a non-specific support package in treating childhood anxiety disorders. Random groups of children with anxiety disorders were allocated to receive either a cognitive behavioral treatment or a control condition called group support and attention program. The outcome of the research study showed that the cognitive behavioral treatment was significantly more efficacious in the treatment of childhood anxiety than a treatment that includes only nonspecific therapy factors. 9
